Here at Acacia & K we do not get caught up in the month of Love so you may not see a lot of romantic gestures from us this season. It's fine, you can always sue us (errr that is a joke).
Seriously though, we do have a thought to share and that is, the ability to love someone else be it in the month of February or any other day in which you can wake up, starts with you.
Love yourself first and you may find it in you to love someone else.
Climbing a mountain is about perseverance, loving nature and the deep feeling of achieving that which a few have achieved. The world is big and beautiful. Pack a bag today and see the world.
Africa is rich with cultures and tribes. One rite which seem to be common across all tribes regardless of country is the passage rite into adulthood. We were lucky to get this image with an insight into the process.
There is an initial ceremony of sorts which involves dancing and incantations (we have no clue what was said) . After which the girls are taken into the forest for a number of days by designated elder women, who teach them how to take care of a man in every way. We are not sure if this a skill required towards our goal for women empowerment :-). Though that said, myth has it, if a man is to come across a girl/woman in the forest during her passage rite, she is to make love to him until he dies. We are scratching our head on that one. Female empowerment on a different scale?
We do not know if these are tall tales but it all makes out for a rich culture which has been around for years.
Beauty of Africa. You never know what you might find at each turn.
